Lunch 'N' Learn: "Bone-Healthy Lifestyles"

When: Monday, November 23, 2009 - 12:00 PM

Join us for a Lunch 'N' Learn as Marie Bartello, RN, MS, North Jersey Regional Arthritis Center, presents "Bone-Healthy Lifestyles." Attendees will learn about the importance of proper nutrition and exercise, the impact of identifying risk factors, and the treatment options for those prone to or living with osteoporosis. A complimentary luncheon is served. Seating is limited; you MUST register by calling the library by November 18.

Galilean Nights

When: Monday, November 23, 2009 - 5:00 PM

Stop by for a fun night recreating Galileo's experience on the library lawn. We will have binoculars and telescopes set up to view Jupiter, its moons, and our sun and moon. You are also invited to bring your own binoculars and telescopes.

Two by Two Concert

When: Friday, December 18, 2009 - 11:00 AM

This concert combines the music of three unknown women composers (two from Germany and one from England) with that of three famous male composers: Edward Elgar, Fritz Kreisler, and Johannes Brahms. Their music will be performed by Karen Pinoci, cello, and Claudia Baumgaertner Lemmerz, piano, who will also talk about the composers and history surrounding the music. A light luncheon will be served after concert

Cellist/conductor Karen Pinoci, DMA, is cofounder of the New Philharmonic of New Jersey, which she also serves as Associate Conductor and Director of Educational Programming. Karen has enjoyed a long tenure as Music Director and Conductor of the New Sussex Symphony and is also Music Director of the Essex County Summer Players Orchestra. She performs as a cellist with the New Philharmonic of NJ, the Baroque Orchestra of North Jersey, and the Concert Opera of New Jersey and in the Moonlight Duo, which she formed in 2005 with pianist Claudia Baumgaertner Lemmerz.

Claudia Baumgaertner Lemmerz graduated from the Music Conservatory (Musikhochschule Köln) in Cologne, Germany, with a bachelor's degree in organ/piano, voice and choral directing, and also studied Music History at the University in Bonn, Germany. She was organist at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bad Honnef, Germany, where she also directed a youth and a children's choir for several years. She resumed her performance career in the United States by forming the Moonlight Duo in 2005 with Karen Pinoci, and by establishing her teaching career with the Moonlight Music Studio. Claudia also performs as a violinist in the New Sussex Symphony, the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, the Concert Opera of NJ, and the Essex County Summer Players.
