Balance Your Life - Senior Fitness Program

When: Monday, November 23, 2009 - 10:00 AM

Seventy-year-old Michigan Senior Olympics gold medalist Jimmy O’Hearn will present his “Balance Your Life” fitness program that he designed for senior citizens.

Seniors will acquire better functional balance, greater coordination, more energy, reduced stress, increased strength and feel and look younger.

Fine Olive Oils

The Loutit District Library is pleased to announce a special pre-holiday class on fine olive oils. Field Reichardt, President of The Organic Olive Oil Company, which is located in Grand Haven, will provide an opportunity to learn about, and taste different styles of olive oils, most of which his company imports and distributes in 44 US States.

Among the oils that will be featured are a delicate oil from the Rioja area of Spain, a full-flavored oil from New Zealand, and a robust oil from Italy. All of the oils are produced by small, artisan farmers from very high quality organic fruit.

Participants will gain an understanding of the differences in standard grocery store oils, and artisan products. Olive oils have very different styles. This will be an opportunity for people to learn about different oils, and the foods they complement.

Author Dave Walks-As-Bear

David Walks-As Bear is a syndicated columnist and writer, who has seen a version of his Ely Stone novels appear on television in ABC’s ELI STONE TV series. He pens “The Bear’s Den”, a column that originates at the White Lake Beacon in Whitehall, and then is carried in other newspapers and on the web.

Walks-As-Bear has appeared on television’s The History Channel, and is often featured on many radio programs and other venues. He will chat with the audience about his new book, Shamus Ghillie U.S. Secret Service in MEDICINE HAT, a historical fiction thriller. He will discuss his columns, his writing and everyday life from a Native American Indian point of view.

David will interact with the audience throughout; questions are always interesting and welcome. David’s appearance at the Loutit District Library is one of several in the area that the author will be doing on his limited new book tour.
