Ernie Birchmeier is the Livestock and Dairy Specialist for Michigan Farm Bureau. He works daily to protect the interests of Michigan’s Farmers and help to promote and enhance the state’s livestock and dairy industry. Farmers are constantly bombarded with new regulations and are challenged by the large volume of misinformation that is spread throughout the consuming public by the media and by misinformed people. Ernie works to fight those regulations and to promote and share the truth about agriculture.

His presentation will focus on the importance of agriculture to West Michigan and why our farmers are critical to the food industry on a worldwide basis. He will help those in attendance understand that “locally grown is good and so is food grown in other parts of the Country; and food from small farms is good and so is food from large farms.” He welcomes your questions about agriculture.

Ernie is a graduate of Michigan State University and a lifelong farmer.
