Step Forward Michigan has $448 million to assist homeowners who are struggling to keep their home.

Families that are currently drawing unemployment benefits are eligible to be reviewed for a program that will pay half of their mortgage payment for up to 12 months. Homeowners who have fallen delinquent can be reviewed to receive up to $10,000 to bring their loan current. Certified housing counselors Char Seise and Lynne Balkema will be available to explain the programs and to help families apply for assistance immediately. The City of Grand Haven is a MSHDA/HUD certified housing counseling agency, providing homebuyer education classes and foreclosure prevention services to Ottawa County residents. There is no cost for this assistance. Private appointments are available upon request.
