Event Type: Program
Age Group(s): Adults
Date: 7/17/2018
Start Time: 6:00 PM

Join Curtis Mann and Stephanie Martin, Lincoln Library's Sangamon Valley Collection staff, as they present Prairie to Farm Field: The History of Springfield's Landscapes.

The program is part of Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow: Springfield's Bicentennial Town Hall Series. Written between 1908 and 1918, The Golden Book of Springfield was a part of Vachel Lindsay's response to the 1908 Springfield Race Riots, in which he imagined a utopian Springfield in 2018 that was a center of tolerance, artistry, and imagination. During the Illinois State Bicentennial, forums will offer a new chapter of our community's history by looking at ten topics of importance in today's Springfield through the lens of yesterday and tomorrow.
