 Coal Mine Wars:If You Think You're Safe on the Surface...You’re Wrong with author, Kevin Corley. If you are interested in the history of coal mining and union organizing in Illinois, you will want to attend Kevin Corley's talk. He will share the human and personal stories behind the sometimes violent history of Illinois coal mines and discuss the historical research that underpins his novels "Sixteen Tons" and "Throw Out the Water" -- both about the coal mining and union organizing that took place around Virden and Pana, Illinois.
