Computer Class: Internet for Beginners, Group 2

When: Monday November 23rd, 2009 - 09:00 AM
Where: Computer Training Lab

Internet for Beginners: This three-part class is for those who want to learn how to go online and move around the internet with ease. Students who have a mastery of skills covered in “Know Your PC” are welcomed to register for this class. In part one, we will cover how to access websites, how to navigate, addresses, basic searching, and web safety. In part two, we will show you how to search online (Google and beyond), how to evaluate information, and how to find specialized information such as health, law and jobs. Part three will introduce you to more advanced browser tricks and tools.
Registration is required.

Computer Class: Word 2007, Group 1

When: Monday November 23rd, 2009 - 01:00 PM
Where: Computer Training Lab

Word 2007: This is a three-part class for those who have mastery of the skills covered in “Know Your PC.” Part one will introduce you to the basics of formatting and using many of the menu and toolbar features in Word 2007. Part two will introduce you to more advanced features such as creating tables, inserting images, and formatting envelopes. Part three is a refresher session in which we’ll address any lingering questions and cover a few advanced tools. Registration is required.

Quilting Program

When: Tuesday November 24th, 2009 - 06:30 PM

Students will receive a kit with pattern (of their choice) and all necessary materials to make their mini quilt.

Mother Goose Time

When: Wednesday November 25th, 2009 - 11:00 AM

A lapsit program for babies ages birth-13 months and their caregivers.

How to Approach a Foundation

When: Wednesday December 2nd, 2009 - 09:00 AM
Where: Computer Training Lab

We will cover strategies for effective communications with grantmakers, taking you through initial contact to what happens after you receive funding. You will learn how to initiate contact with potential funders; plan calls and meetings; communicate during and after a grant decision; and, ultimately, how to build lasting partnerships with grantmakers.

Rhythm Roundup

When: Friday December 4th, 2009 - 10:00 AM
Where: Kiva

This music-based program will be held every Friday morning from 10:00 - 10:30am in the Kiva and will focus on rhythm, movement, singing, and gross motor skills.
