50th Anniversary of President Kennedy's Tampa Visit

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Event Details

This November marks the 50th anniversary of President's Kennedy's visit to Tampa, four days before his fateful trip to Dallas. Join former local TV news anchor Arch Deal, local photographer Tony Zappone and former Tampa Police Officer Russell Groover as they discuss President Kennedy's 1963 visit and the events that occurred on that day. Arch was part of the local press corps traveling with the President during his visit. Tony, only 16-years-old, photographed the President's trip and then presented the photos he took to Robert Kennedy after the assassination. Russell was part of the motorcade escorting the President on all of his stops around Tampa. Joining them will be local photographer Bryan Weinstein who re-creates historical photos in current time. Be part of this fascinating discussion of Tampa history, photography as both journalism, hobby, and art form, and memories of President Kennedy's eventful visit overall.
