www.ozere.ca Ozere seamlessly blends bluegrass, Celtic, Balkan, pop and chamber music, creating a fresh new folk sound. Formed in 2012 by violinist Jessica Deutsch, Ozere takes equal inspiration from classical string quartets and folk bands. It looks like half of each, but with its unique instrumentation - violin, cello, mandolin, bass and occasional vocals - it can do both at once. Drawing comparisons to the Goat Rodeo Sessions and Tin Hat Trio, Ozere has garnered a following of loyal fans. This music takes you on a journey, from solemn chamber suites to knee-slapping reels. Canadian Folk Music Awards 2016 nominee for Pushing the Boundaries. "Ozere’s rich instrumental tone, interesting rhythms and inspired compositions create a music that feels profoundly comfortable and yet also very fresh and different" - The Whole Note. This 12-part Spring season of concerts is produced by the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library, and funded in part by the Friends of Crandall Public Library, and the New York State Council on the Arts - Folk Arts Program.
