Live! Folklife Concert: Máire Ní Chathasaigh & Chris Newman

7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Crandall Public Library
Christine L. McDonald Community Room

Event Details

Máire Ní Chathasaigh (Irish harp) & Chris Newman (acoustic guitar) have performed at most of the major folk and Celtic festivals in Europe, the USA and Australasia; at countless arts festivals; and have given almost two thousand concerts in venues large and small. Their performances are rooted but eclectic, emotional but adventurous: a breathtaking blend of traditional Irish music, hot jazz, bluegrass and baroque, coupled with striking new compositions and Chris’s delightfully subversive wit. "Fine work by this celebrated duo: Newman led us on death-defying sprints while Máire confirmed her status as one of the world's greatest harpists" -Edinburgh Evening News. www.mairenichathasaigh.com/ Free series of live music performances hosted by the Folklife Center on Thursday evenings in the Spring and Fall at Crandall Public Library with funding from the New York Council on the Arts-Folk Arts Program with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the NYS Legislature.
