Alex Smith grew up in the heart of the Adirondacks, the son of a boatbuilder and a historian. He started to write songs at the age of 12 drawing inspiration from his rural community. Promoting a sense of pride in one’s traditions, while also addressing the issues of modern times is the backbone of Smith’s original music. Hamilton County is his 3rd album. “Alex is a natural storyteller with a rich voice who is creating poignant songs rooted in the heritage of his Adirondack home –Caffe Lena. Presented by the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library and funded in part by the Friends of Crandall Public Library, and the New York State Council on the Arts - Folk Arts Program, with the supported of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
