An Evening with Blue Zones Explorer Tony Buettner - Creating a Blueprint for Our Sustainable Future

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Off-Site
Charles R. Wood Theater

Crandall Public Library is excited to share that in honor of Earth Day 2024, we will be hosting the national spokesperson for the Blue Zones Project, Tony Buettner. The Blue Zones Project, which was featured on the Netflix documentary Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones this past summer, is on a mission to empower communities to “live better, longer.” The project began with National Geographic Explorers, Dan and Tony Buettner's' exploration of the locations around the world (later named Blue Zones) where human longevity and vitality thrive.

Not only will Mr. Buettner be giving a visual presentation of “Blue Zones research on the longest-lived and healthiest places in the world”, he will also discuss how we can adopt Blue Zone lifestyle habits here in our own community. In the spirit of creating Sustainable Futures, this presentation will be the finale for the city-wide Glens Falls Sustainable Futures Earth Day Event. Mr. Buettner will be giving this introductory presentation at the Charles R. Wood Theater located at 207 Glen St, Glens Falls, NY from 6-7pm. Registration is required.

Virtual: A Murder Mystery, Family Story, & Love Letter to Strong Women Everywhere: Author Talk w/ Nina Simon

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Crandall Public Library
Virtual
Nothing brings a family together like a murder next door.

You’re invited to join Nina Simon online as she chats about her lighthearted whodunnit about a grandmother-mother-daughter trio of amateur sleuths, Mother-Daughter Murder Night

Mother-Daughter Murder Night follows high-powered business woman Lana Rubicon. She has a lot to be proud of with her keen intelligence, impeccable taste, and the L.A. real estate empire she’s built. But when she finds herself trapped 300 miles north of the city, convalescing in a sleepy coastal town with her adult daughter Beth and teenage granddaughter Jack, Lana is stuck counting otters instead of square footage—and hoping that boredom won’t kill her before the cancer does.

In a turn of events, when Jack happens upon a dead body while kayaking she quickly becomes a suspect in the homicide investigation, and the Rubicon women are thrown into chaos. Beth thinks Lana should focus on recovery, but Lana has a better idea. She’ll pull on her wig, find the true murderer, protect her family, and prove she still has power. With Jack and Beth’s help, Lana uncovers a web of lies, family vendettas, and land disputes lurking beneath the surface of a community populated by folksy conservationists and wealthy ranchers. But as their amateur snooping advances into ever-more dangerous territory, the headstrong Rubicon women must learn to do the one thing they’ve always resisted: depend on each other.

Harness your inner detective and sign up for the investigation. Register now!

Registration is required and a high speed internet connection is recommended. Register for this author talk and check out other online author talks here: https://libraryc.org/crandalllibrary Programs will be recorded and available to view at later date.
