From 5-6:30 p.m., come early and try the Library's virtual reality equipment to explore Bhutan and learn about the refugee experience before the presentation. At 6:30 p.m., hear the firsthand narrative of Ishwar Thapa, who escaped his native Bhutan after being persecuted and receiving death threats. He fled to Nepal where he lived as a refugee for 23 years. In 2016, Thapa and his family were granted refugee status by the United States. Resettled by Catholic Charities of Southwestern Ohio, the Thapa family is connected with the Nepalese community in the greater Cincinnati Area. Currently working and taking care of his family, Ishwar is happy to have the freedom and opportunity to pursue his dreams in this country.
