Over a million years ago, the Old or Ancient Kentucky River flowed north and passed through what is now Boone County. The Ancient River deposited large quantities of materials which became a very valuable and useful resource to Native Americans in the area. Matthew Maley, a retired environmental engineer, will discuss his ten year project to identify how native peoples used these deposits to make tools found at ten archaeological sites in Boone County.
