Event Details

Join NAMI Whatcom for an evening with Roseann Martinez and Haley Lowe on First Episode Psychosis. Psychosis is common and treatable. It affects 3 in 100 people and usually occurs for the first time between the ages of 15 and 30. It is equally prevalent in males and females, across cultures. Barriers to treatment include recognizing symptoms, not knowing where to access help, and a lack of financial resources. The class will discuss the Washington State First Episode Psychosis Project and the importance of early detection, along with a description of psychosis, its symptoms, and diagnosis. Interview strategies and resources will be provided. This program is co-sponsored by the Bellingham Public Library. For more information about the event, please contact NAMI Whatcom at 360-671-4950.
