Join us for an afternoon of science and education on the W.G. Jackson Research Vessel. The Waukegan Public Library and the Waukegan Harbor Citizens Action Group have made arrangements with Grand Valley State University to take a group of 26 guests age 10 and older on a two-hour scientific expedition of the Waukegan Harbor and Lake Michigan. Each child needs to be accompanied by a caregiver. Students will do experiments with trained ship crew members such as testing the pH and turbidity of lake water, checking the clarity of the water with a Secchi disk and studying macro-invertebrates.
